SeaFund is a fundraising platform built exclusively for the maritime, yachting, fishing and ocean community. Sailors, fishers, rescue crews, marine researchers and ocean lovers can raise money for boats, equipment, expeditions, rescue efforts, education and conservation.

Who can create a campaign?

Anyone connected to the sea — private sailors, fishermen, captains, marine NGOs, ocean researchers, and youth sailing clubs. To receive payouts you must complete identity verification in your profile.

In which countries does SeaFund work?

SeaFund accepts donations from anywhere in the world. Payouts are supported to bank accounts in the SEPA area and other regions supported by our payment processor Stripe.

How does the SeaFund commission work?

SeaFund is free for campaign owners — we do not take a percentage from the raised amount. Instead, donors choose an optional voluntary contribution (0–30%, default 15%) on top of their donation to support the platform. You always see the full breakdown before you pay.

Which payment methods are supported?

All major cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and local methods depending on your country. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.

Which currencies can I donate in?

EUR, USD, GBP, PLN, CHF, CZK, NOK, SEK, DKK, RON and HUF. Your card will be charged in the selected currency; your bank may apply a conversion fee.

Do I get a receipt?

Yes. Stripe sends an automatic email receipt for every successful donation to the email address you enter at checkout.

Can I get a refund?

Donations are generally non-refundable. In exceptional cases (fraud, duplicate charge, campaign cancellation) contact us and we will review your request.

How do I start a campaign?

Sign in, click “Start a campaign”, and follow the guided form: title, story, photos, goal amount and category. You can save as draft and publish when you're ready.

How long can a campaign run?

You choose an optional end date. Campaigns without an end date stay open until you close them or your goal is reached.

Can I edit my campaign after publishing?

Yes. Go to “My campaigns” in your account and open the edit view. You can also post updates that appear in a timeline on the campaign page.

How do I receive the funds I raise?

Open the Payouts page, request a payout, and the transfer will be made to your verified bank account (IBAN). Payouts are reviewed manually before release.

Why do I need to verify my identity?

To protect donors and comply with anti-fraud and anti-money-laundering rules, everyone who withdraws funds must provide their legal name, address, IBAN and a photo of a government-issued ID. Documents are stored privately and are only visible to SeaFund admins.

How does SeaFund prevent fraud?

Every campaign owner must verify their identity before withdrawing funds. Donations are processed by Stripe with full PCI-DSS compliance. Suspicious campaigns can be reported and are reviewed by our team.

What if I don't trust a campaign?

Do not donate. If you believe a campaign is fraudulent, contact us and we will investigate. Verified campaign owners display a badge next to their name.

Is my personal data safe?

Yes. Sensitive fields (address, IBAN, ID documents) are stored in a private, encrypted bucket and are never shown publicly. Public campaign pages only show the display name, avatar and country.
